Basic fundamentals of dance, classroom etiquette, performance, focus, and discipline are introduced.   Beginner II: Students with at least 1 year of dance experience and who are perfecting basic fundamentals, are ready to learn more complex footwork, can apply constructive feedback, demonstrate proper classroom etiquette and beginning to show heightened spatial and body awareness.   Intermediate I/II: Students who have grasped solid ballet techniques, ready to focus on more disciplined practices in strength, flexibility, coordination and use of space. Dancers will continue to work on more advanced techniques, movements, performance, and musicality.   Advanced/Pre Professional (Or Accelerated Advanced): Students with multiple years of training; many with a focus on either professional dance opportunities or college bound dance programs. Students have perfected techniques and showmanship. Ability to apply these skills to personal choreography and improvisational skills are developed. Students are seeking deeper expression, focusing on stylization, and building stronger connections between their bodies intricacies and the stories they tell. Dance Styles   Princess Ballerinas Our NEW Preschool/Kindergarten Princess Ballerinas dance program offers storybook themed dance classes on a 10-week quarterly schedule. Our tiny ballerinas get to dance with themed props/costumes & take home special activity pages, sticker charts and a certificate of achievement at the end of each session! Kinderdance An hour Ballet/Tap class designed for 5-6 year olds. Dancers will begin to focus on basic Ballet & Tap technique/terminology, classroom etiquette & spatial movement. Classes will encourage students to use self-expression, creative dance, and listening skills.   Ballet:  Classical Ballet is the traditional esthetic used to tell a story through movement without words. An abundance of grace, strength, flexibility and athleticism are emphasized in the technique. The stylistic qualities of Ballet evolved into three main stylistic divisions known as the Russion or Vaganova methods, Italian or Cecchetti method and the French method. Students will explore fundamentals of the Vaganova and Cecchetti methods in arm and leg positioning’s and movement across the floor. Classes will consist of structured series of movements performed at the barre, center floor, across the floor and at the corner. Students will explore dance terminology, musicality, adagio/allegro combinations, strength exercises, small/large jumps, turns, proper classroom etiquette, and performance.   Jazz: Jazz  is a FUN, UPBEAT, RHYTHMIC style of dance with roots from Africa. Student will be exposed to a variety of jazz styles while focusing on the fundamentals of isolations, simple rhythms and patterns, large jumps and turns, and basic performance skills. Class structure includes warm ups, stretches, isolations, across the floor progressions, and combinations.   Tap: Tap is a great way to build coordination, rhythm, strength and aerobic endurance. Students will gain flexibility and agility of the knee, ankle, and foot while learning proper tap techniques to perfect clear sounds, complex rhythms, stylistic notes and performance. (your tap teacher may have a better description that suites his class)   Contemporary: This class will focus on contemporary jazz and lyrical techniques such as contractions, floor-work, abstract and flowing lines, off center balancing, and expression. This class fuses the best of ballet, modern, and jazz into one class. Dancers learn to use their bodies to express feelings, tell stories, and connect with themselves for a deeper level of performance.   Variation/Répertoire class: Variation is part of advanced ballet specialties, which consists in learning classical ballet variations from the répertoire (for example, Kitri variation from Don Quixote). Variations can also be adapted for intermediate level.
